Volunteers

Volunteers are needed for future events or helping partnering non-profit organizations with their events. Current Volunteer Openings

Responsibilities are as follows:

Board Committees (2 meetings a month (4 hours) plus recruitment or research):

  • Board Development - Shall work on keeping board relevant and trained to best serve the community.
  • Budget and Finance - Shall develop the annual fiscal plan and work on execution and accountability to fiscal health.
  • Public Relations - Shall develop and execute event and organizational marketing plan including press release and social media.
  • Volunteers Development - Shall develop job descriptions, training and volunteer appreciation for events and organization.

 

Pride Planning Committees (2 meetings a month (4 hours) plus recruitment or research; or otherwise stated):

  • Entertainment Committee- Shall develop and book entertainment for Pride and Events including staging and MC talent.
    • Planning Volunteers - brainstorms ideas, solicits and researches talent to make recommendations for board approval for main stage, beer tent, roaming, and kids corner entertainers.
    • Day of Pride Volunteers(Min 2 hour shifts + set up and tear down - Note Pride June 30th set up at 8AM and tear down start 10PM and done by 11PM) needed for:
      • Stage
      • Green Room
      • Set up and also work with Logistics Committee

 

  • Fundraising Committee- Shall develop events and fundraising opportunities to augment the work done with sponsorship and grants. (2 meetings a month (4 hours) plus event execution or sales)
    • Planning Volunteers - brainstorm fundraising and promotion events leading up to, and including pride for the duration of the fiscal year. Fundraising ideas are then presented via the Pride Chair for board approval. **Previous Fundrasing Events include: Variety Shows, Raffles, Drag Shows, Haunted House, Advertising Sales, Writband Sales, Beer and Water Sales, etc.
    • Staffing Volunteers- Min 20 Volunteers for product sales day of pride (2 volunteers for 2 hour shifts plus set up and tear down). May need additional volunteers for advertising sales or other event participation. One board member is required to be in attendance at every fundraising event and must sign off on money handling according to the Treasurer's SOP.

  • Logistic Committee- Shall coordinate volunteers to set up and tear down events and site and ensure all proper safety, security and first aid are in place.
    • Planning Volunteers - prices fencing, chairs and other staging equipment required for Pride to submit via the Pride Chair for board approval. They also create the site and parade map and make recommendations to ensure psitive traffic flow and public safety. (2 meetings a month (4 hours) plus event execution)
    • Day of Pride Staffing- Min 40 Volunteers for 8AM set up for Pride site. 10 volunteers for 2 hour shifts to staff first aid and security. Also responsible for working with secuirty to ensure proper coverage and appropriate presence is established.

  • Parade Committee- Shall develop route as approved by board and coordinate volunteers, street barriers and organize and promote event.
    • Planning Committee - brainstorm and research options for beer garden, entrance pricing and management to submit via the Pride Chair for board approval. Actively solicit quality food, merchandise and beverage vendors and partners. Help establish effective pricing strategy for vendors and booths for board approval. (2 meetings a month (4 hours) plus event execution or sales)
    • Day of Pride Volunteers- 60 Volunteers (4 hours each) for 8AM set up of booths, 11PM tear down, and staffing vending, check in and beer garden.
      • Storage/Truck Volunteers - 10 Volunteers to get tents and supplies from storage and be at Pride site by 8AM

Project Positions:

  • Graphic Artists, Public Relations, Web Designers, Content Writers, Creative Writers - Shall assist various committees with development of event and visual media for the organization. (Time Commitment is based on per project basis)

 

Planning Committees to plan and organize the 2012 Pride Event for Omaha/Council Bluffs meets twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6PM - 8PM.
